Growing Young: Real Examples of Fuller Youth Institute's Research

AT SCD 2017 I will be involved in leadership during several different pieces of the event! Everything I will share at SCD 2017 has to do with reaching out to make meaningful connections with young people.

A recent publication by the Fuller Youth Institute (Growing Young: 6 Essential Strategies to Help Young People Discover...) by Kara Powell, Brad Griffen, and Jake Mulder is a treasure trove of research and real world examples of churches who are lowering their average attendee/member age through effective ministry with young people and young families.

Our US staff team at Young People's Ministries spent time looking for real life examples in the UMC of the six strategies identified in Growing Young. These six strategies, as well as demographic information about younger generations and practical tips for connecting with those young generations will be covered in my Saturday lunchtime ideamart. I'd love to see you there! Even if you can't make it, check out the blog posts from our staff team and begin to think about what your congregation does to intentionally connect with young people.
